My_SmartBottle
Hydration is important. The startup My_ is totally convinced of that. But people sometimes forget to drink enough. That’s why it is their mission to monitor, manage and improve your hydration with smart products. For the development of their first product, My_SmartBottle, they worked together with Studio Dott.
Proof of concept
My_SmartBottle is, as the name suggests, a smart drinking bottle. My_ devised their own principle to allow a contactless measurement of how much fluid leaves the bottle. In order to attract capital for the realization of their first product, this principle had to be further elaborated. To do so, My_ reached out to Studio Dott and Imec. We looked into the use, composition, manufacturability and shape of the bottle. Imec did the same for the electronics.
Perfectly clean
Smart drinking bottles usually have one problem: cleaning. Having integrated electronics, the bottles can’t be cleaned under the tap or in the dishwasher. The advice is always to clean them with a damp cloth.
In the case of My_SmartBottle, all electronic components are bundled in a removable module. In addition, this module does not come into contact with the liquid in the bottle. As a result, all other 'dirty' parts can go in the dishwasher.
Puzzel
Finding a way to isolate all electronic components was quite a puzzle. The technique, the production, the use, etc., it all had to be in sync. To align all parameters with each other, we developed several technical models.
Think - Make - Test - Repeat
Theories on paper aren’t always waterproof. And you can’t test everything in a CAD model. Sometimes you need something you can manipulate, in order to draw the right conclusions. That’s why several prototypes were made to verify shape, ergonomics, technology, etc.
App
A smart bottle comes with an app, of course. Based on personal parameters, the app establishes a hydration goal. It gives you an overview of all your data and you can also manually add or subtract mls.
Coach
In addition to the status quo, the home screen also shows the optimal drinking pace. The app gives you encouraging messages to get as close as possible to this target. At the top of the screen there is the “high score” board, where you can see on how many consecutive days you have achieved your goal. As a way to challenge yourself, your longest series is also shown.
My_
We also developed a corporate identity. By isolating My_ as a brand, we detach it from the product. This way, new products can be integrated seamlessly.
My_SmartBottle
Hydratatie is belangrijk. Daar is de startup My_ rotsvast van overtuigd. Maar een mens vergeet al eens voldoende te drinken. Daarom is het hun missie om met slimme producten je hydratatie op te volgen, te managen en te verbeteren. Voor de ontwikkeling van hun eerste product, My_SmartBottle, werkten ze onder andere samen met Studio Dott.
Proof of concept
My_SmartBottle is zoals de naam doet vermoeden een slimme drinkfles. My_ bedacht zelf een principe om contactloos te meten hoeveel vloeistof er uit een fles gaat. Om kapitaal aan te trekken voor de realisatie van hun eerste product moest dit principe verder uitgewerkt worden. Hiervoor nam My_ Studio Dott en Imec onder de arm. Wij bogen ons over het gebruik, de opbouw, maakbaarheid en vorm van de fles. Imec deed hetzelfde voor de elektronica.
Da's proper
Slimme drinkflessen hebben meestal één pijnpunt: het reinigen. Door de integratie van elektronica mogen de flessen niet onder kraan of in de vaatwasser. Het advies luidt steeds: schoonmaken met een vochtige doek.
Bij My_SmartBottle zijn alle elektronische componenten gebundeld in een verwijderbare module. Die komt bovendien niet in contact met de vloeistof in de fles. Hierdoor kunnen alle andere ‘vuile’ onderdelen wel de vaatwas in.
Puzzel
Het isoleren van alle elektronische componenten vergde het nodige puzzelwerk. De techniek, de productie, het gebruik, ... heel het plaatje moet kloppen. Om alle parameters op elkaar af te stemmen stelde we meerdere technische modellen op.
Think - Make - Test - Repeat
Niet alles is duidelijk op papier. En je kan niet alles testen in een CAD model. Soms moet je iets in je handen hebben om de juiste conclusies te trekken. Daarom zijn er verschillende prototypes gemaakt om vorm, ergonomie, techniek, ... te verifiëren.
App
Bij een slimme fles hoort ook een app. Op basis van persoonlijke parameters legt die een hydratatie doel vast. Je krijgt een overzicht van al je data en je kan ook manueel ml toevoegen of aftrekken.
Coach
Het home scherm geeft naast de status quo ook het optimale drink tempo weer. De app moedigt je met boodschappen aan om dit zo goed mogelijk te benaderen. Bovenaan het scherm is er het ‘high score’ bord. Je kan er zien hoeveel opeenvolgende dagen je je doel gehaald hebt en om jezelf uit te dagen wordt ook je langste reeks weergegeven.
My_
We ontwikkelden ook een huisstijl. Door My_ te isoleren als merk, trekken we het los van het product. Zo kunnen nieuwe producten naadloos geïntegreerd worden.
